Hi, I’m Afri!
My art journey started around December 2016, when I moved to live abroad with my partner.
Until then, I had been involved in all sorts of creative projects: handmade earrings, quilling, crafting, and I had recently started to watch watercolor Youtube tutorials.
I never thought I would be able to paint but it was relaxing to see how colors flowed on the paper, the different textures watercolor could create, how the paintings were built in different transparent layers, it was pure magic to watch!

When I arrived to France, the weather was cold as we started to dive into winter and I felt I was in a very dark and unfamiliar environment, we had little hours of light, I hadn't met any people yet, I was exhaustively looking for a job and I didn't have any of my creative supplies with me.
At that moment I decided to buy a set of colorful watercolors
and try some of the YouTube tutorials I had been watching.
Painting enriched my soul, even if I started with simple watercolor paintings, it gave me hope and something to look forward to do each day.
Shortly after that I opened my instagram account @afrisartjourney to meet people with the same interests and I found an amazing caring community 💛
Some years later I have fallen in love with art and I have learnt a ton about watercolors! I also had time to explore with gouache, colored pencils, inks, acrylic gouache, and I can’t wait to share all my discoverings with you.
